You can process it on the official website of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.evisa.gov.tr\/en\/apply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I haven't mentioned your country or if you have any doubts, you can check the visa link. Requirements<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the requirements for traveling to T\u00fcrkiye is that your passport should have a minimum validity of 150 days* at the time of entry into the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, it must have at least 1 free page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd39 Passport validity<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>T\u00fcrkiye calculates the necessary passport validity based on the maximum time you can stay in the country, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfa.gov.tr\/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">adding an extra 60 days to that<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, for passports from countries that can stay for up to 90 days, the passport must have a validity of at least 150 days (90 + 60 = 150) at the time of entry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same applies to passports from countries with a maximum stay of 30 days; you need to add 60 days. Therefore, the passport<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"caja-borde\">\ud83d\udc4d <strong>Friendly Tip<\/strong>: When you travel, keep a copy of your passport on your phone and another in the cloud. Safety<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yes, overall, T\u00fcrkiye is a safe country.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd39 Safety in cities<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>While the crime rate is low, you need to be cautious of pickpockets in major cities, tourist spots, and public transportation, such as in Istanbul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2714\ufe0f Is it safe to travel to Istanbul?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Istanbul is a very safe city, but as it has become a popular tourist destination in recent years, scams targeting tourists have emerged. You'll need to be careful; here are some examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Taxis<\/strong>: Avoid them at all costs. It's common for the driver to claim you've only given them a fraction of the fare, for example, if you gave them 100 liras, they might say you gave them only 20. In the city, you can easily use public transportation, and for <strong><a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Istanbul Transfers\" href=\"https:\/\/viajerosactivos.com\/en\/recomendado\/traslados-estambul-EN\/\">airport transfers <\/a><\/strong> use a service like the one linked to avoid unpleasant situations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Distracted shoe shiners:<\/strong> They \"accidentally\" drop their brush, and as you kindly warn them, they repay you with a 10-second shoe shine. Later, they'll try to charge you an exorbitant fee, claiming they have a family. \ud83e\udd26<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Menus without prices<\/strong> Restaurants without prices on their menus are likely to charge outrageous sums, especially if they're in touristy areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unordered dishes<\/strong>: Many places in Istanbul may charge you for anything they place on your table, even if you didn't order it. While it's common in my experience to be treated to some things in T\u00fcrkiye, especially in non-touristy areas or villages (it's quite common to be treated to Turkish tea at the end of a meal and some <em>lokums<\/em> (Turkish delight), some establishments may take advantage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Overly friendly people <\/strong>inviting you to a bar with their friends, and you end up paying for the whole group's drinks at outrageous prices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"caja-linea translation-block\">If you encounter any scam or issue, <strong>mention that you will call the police<\/strong>.  Sometimes, just the mention of it works because Turks have a lot of respect for the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd39 Freedom of expression<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Freedom of expression in T\u00fcrkiye is not the same as in many Western countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, one of my top travel tips for visiting T\u00fcrkiye is to avoid criticizing the country or discussing sensitive topics like domestic politics or Turkish authorities, even on social media<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you know, this is applicable wherever we travel, but in T\u00fcrkiye, there are laws on these matters that can get you into serious trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/viajerosactivos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/capadocia-turquia.jpg\" alt=\"cappadocia-turkey\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u274c Conflict zones<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There is still a certain risk of terrorist attacks in the country, and there are also some conflict areas along with Syria and Iraq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you plan to travel to any area close to these countries, find out about the situation at that time and stay informed throughout your trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2714\ufe0f Is it safe to travel to T\u00fcrkiye despite the Israel-Palestine conflict?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yes, traveling to T\u00fcrkiye is still safe despite the conflict between Israel and Palestine because T\u00fcrkiye does not share borders with Israel. If you plan to visit Istanbul, it is far from the Gaza Strip, with over 800 km of distance.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, T\u00fcrkiye has not indicated any participation in the conflict at the moment. Nevertheless, if you are planning your trip, I recommend keeping an eye on the news. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Viajar_sola\"><\/span>7. Solo female traveler<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can generally travel alone to T\u00fcrkiye without any issues. I've done it myself, and it was a lovely experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country is predominantly Muslim, but the main tourist areas (Istanbul, Cappadocia, Izmir, Pamukkale, and the Aegean Sea coast) are not very conservative, and you'll feel like you're in any Western country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In large cities, you can go out alone at night; just take the precautions you would as a woman in other places because, as women, we always need to take care of ourselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another piece of advice I'll give you is to be careful not to smile too much at men. In T\u00fcrkiye, a smile is interpreted as a form of flirting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Turkish men can be very intense. Clothing for women<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In cities like Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, and most of the western part of T\u00fcrkiye, women dress as we would in any Western country, and generally, they do not cover their heads with hijabs or burkas.<br><br>So, if you're traveling in the summer, you can wear tank tops, skirts, or shorts, and summer dresses. However, to enter mosques, you'll need clothing that covers you, and a scarf to cover your head.<br><br>But beware, because not all of T\u00fcrkiye is the same; the eastern part of the country is more conservative. It's best to dress in more covering clothes there, or you risk attracting unwanted attention.<br><br>For example, the city of Konya is famous among Turks for being one of the most conservative, even too conservative for Western Turks.<br><br>When traveling, remember the common saying: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-global-color-9-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:26px\">\"When in Rome, do as the Romans do.\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"9_Dinero_en_Turquia\"><\/span>9. Money in T\u00fcrkiye<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The official currency of the country is the Turkish lira. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in many tourist places, restaurants, and shops, they will gladly accept other currencies, such as euros, US dollars, and even in some places, British pounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But if you have cash in any of these currencies, I recommend exchanging them at an official exchange office, as the exchange rates elsewhere might not be favorable, and you could end up losing money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2714\ufe0f Currency Exchange<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Always go to official exchange offices, and if possible, avoid exchanging at the airport. This goes for any international eSIM provider\u2014it\u2019s thanks to a local rule that kicked in back in July 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2714\ufe0f Roaming in T\u00fcrkiye<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the other option is roaming, which I don't recommend because it tends to be quite expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check in advance with your telecommunication company to see how much they will charge for roaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"13_Electricidad_y_enchufes\"><\/span>13.
