Rhodes isn\u2019t huge, but moving around can sometimes be tricky\u2014some areas are well connected, others not so much. Buses <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the cheapest option and, surprisingly, a pretty good one if you\u2019re staying in popular areas like Rhodes Town, Faliraki, or Lindos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Rhodes Town there are two buses stations operated by two companies: one for buses heading along the west coast and around Rhodes Town (DES Roda), and another for the east coast (Ktel Rodou).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buses run fairly often, but don\u2019t expect Swiss-style punctuality. For example, Lindos, one of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/viajerosactivos.com\/en\/what-to-do-in-rhodes\/\">Rhodes must-sees spots<\/a><\/strong>, has quite a few buses throughout the day. Still, tickets are cheap and the ride, even if slow, gives you nice views of the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not the best option if you\u2019re in a rush, traveling with little kids, want to explore hidden spots, or need to move around early in the morning or late at night. Also, there are no buses that connect the east and west coasts directly\u2014you\u2019ll have to go through Rhodes Town first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Details you should know about each company:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd39 DES Roda (West &amp; Rhodes Town)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Color<\/strong>: White and blue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Routes<\/strong>: They cover several areas, some around Rhodes Town and others along the west coast, including the airport. They also run a line to Butterfly Valley (May to September), and in summer, they share the Rhodes-Kalithea route with Ktel Rodou.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Timetables and fares<\/strong>: These change quite a bit depending on the season, day of the week, and route. You can download the schedules <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rodospublictransport.gr\/index.php?c=schedule&amp;p=pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on their website<\/a><\/strong> and check updated prices <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rodospublictransport.gr\/index.php?c=tickets&amp;p=prices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong> .<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rhodes office<\/strong>: You can buy tickets at the office with either a card or cash. Round trips usually come with a small discount.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ticket machines<\/strong>: There are machines near the office and at some major stops. They only take cash.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Onboard payment<\/strong>: Card only.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udd38 Ktel Rodou (East)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Color<\/strong>: White and orange<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Routes<\/strong>They run different lines to the coast and villages on the east side of the island, all the way to Prasonisi, including Kalithea, Faliraki, Lindos, and the Seven Springs. Since May 2025, they\u2019ve also added a new route between the airport and Faliraki.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Timetables and fares<\/strong>: These also vary a lot depending on the season and the route. Taxi<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Taxis are a convenient option in Rhodes, and you can easily find one in the main towns or call one. There are also taxi stands in popular tourist areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prices are usually fair if you\u2019re not going too far, but if you\u2019re planning of using taxis to explore the whole island, get ready to spend a bit. Renting a Car<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the best way to explore Rhodes on your own and my favorite. Renting a car gives you the freedom to find hidden beaches, inland villages, and just get around without worrying about bus times. You can rent a car right at the airport or in the main towns. Prices depend on the season, car type, and where you rent, but you can usually find great deals if you book early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">I recommend <strong><a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Renting a car in Greece\" href=\"https:\/\/viajerosactivos.com\/en\/recomendado\/alquilar-un-coche-en-grecia-EN\/\">this website<\/a><\/strong> to rent a car in Rhodes\u2014it\u2019s the one I personally use. I\u2019ve found cars for less than \u20ac15 a day in peak season. If not, you can also check  <strong><a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Rent a car in Greece Booking\" href=\"https:\/\/viajerosactivos.com\/en\/recomendado\/alquilar-un-coche-en-grecia-2-EN\/\">this other site,<\/a><\/strong> that sometimes has really good prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2714\ufe0f Requirements to rent a car in Greece<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Minimum Age<\/strong>: 21 (some companies require 23 or 25). Young driver surcharge may apply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Driving license<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Valid if you are from the EU.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are from outside the EU, you\u2019ll need an international driving permit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>License held for at least<\/strong>: 1 year (sometimes 2).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Credit Card<\/strong> in the driver&#039;s name for the deposit (some accept debit, but with restrictions).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Additional documentation<\/strong>: Passport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Quad\"><\/span>4. Quad<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Quads have become popular among tourists, mostly because you can rent one with just a regular driver\u2019s license. But honestly, I wouldn\u2019t recommend it. Every summer, there are accidents involving people who\u2019ve never driven one before and decide to take them out on the road anyway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re not as stable as they look. A lot of tourists end up flipping them and getting injured\u2014sometimes it\u2019s just broken bones, but it can be much worse. Scooter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Renting a scooter is a good option if you have experience and the right license (in Greece, a car license doesn\u2019t cover scooters). In places like Faliraki, Kalithea, or Rhodes Town, it can be super convenient to get around on your own. Bike &amp; E-scooter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re into eco-friendly travel or just want to go at a slower pace, you can rent a bike in Rhodes Town or in tourist areas like Faliraki. Just a heads-up\u2014roads aren\u2019t really designed for bikes, so it\u2019s not the safest option outside the city center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, for a chill ride along the seafront or short distances, it\u2019s a nice alternative. Boat rental<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A fun way to explore the coast is by renting a boat. In Rhodes Town, Faliraki, and other seaside spots, you\u2019ll find well-maintained boats at fair prices. There are lots of options too\u2014from catamarans, sailboats, and yachts to small boats that don\u2019t require a license.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">To rent a boat in Rhodes, I recommend <strong><a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Boat rental in Rhodes\" href=\"https:\/\/viajerosactivos.com\/en\/recomendado\/alquiler-de-barco-en-rodas-EN\/\">this website<\/a><\/strong>.
