The cheapest option to go from Zvartnots airport to Yerevan is with bus 201, which costs 300 drams (0.72 euros) and takes half an hour.

Although perhaps the most uncomfortable if you carry a large suitcase.

This bus has service between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., with stops in Yerevan at:

  • Kilikia Bus Station;
  • next to Manouchian Park on Mesrop Mashtots Avenue;
  • next to Plaza Francia, behind the Opera building;

3.Yandex

A very good alternative is to use the Yandex application to order a car (Uber type) which is the most used in Armenia.

I recommend that you download it beforehand because it will also help you get around the city.

In at the airport you can use the free Wifi which you will find under the name of the airport “Zvartnots Public”.

Order a car with Yandex, It eliminates the language barrier and usually costs cheaper, about 3,000 drams (7.19 euros) from the airport to the center.

The metro in Yerevan is very efficient and cheap, just It costs 100 drams the way.

They also have a metro card which may be more practical if you are going to stay a long time and use it.

The problem with the subway is that There is only 1 line with 10 stops, although it can help you save a walk through the city center.

If you decide to use the subway, when you enter you will find a small office where they sell tokens, which is a type of plastic coin that you put in the machine to pass the grinder.

The metro runs between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m..

4. Bus and minibuses (marshrutka)

For the Armenians, the most common way to get around the city is with its extensive bus network, with a total of 55 routes that cover the city well.

To find out which bus works for you and the route you can use the A2B transport or Yandex application, although the latter didn't work very well for me the last time I was in Yerevan.

Short trips within the city cost from 100 drams (0.24 euros) and you pay in cash when you get off the bus.

How to get around Armenia?

1. Bus and marshrutka

If you are going to move around Armenia, one of the most common ways to do so is with buses or minibuses known as marshrutka.

In particular, marshrutkas are cheap and it is the main way to get around Armenia and the rest of the Caucasus countries.

The problem in Armenia is that many tourist attractions are not well connected by buses from Yerevan.

In many cases you will have to go to a nearby town and from there continue by taxi or sometimes use bus combinations.

2. Train

In Armenia there are trains, but their use is almost anecdotal because they are the old slow Soviet trains… very slow and uncomfortable.

Some of the routes you can take are to: Gyumri, Ararat, Araks, Yeraskh and then to Georgia.

Although the train is one of my favorite ways to travel, in Armenia I would tell you that it is not very practical.

3. Driving

The most practical thing in Armenia to visit places outside of Yerevan is to drive.

Although I have to warn you that the Driving in the Caucasus is aggressive and rural mountain areas can be more dangerous because the roads are narrow and sometimes you will even come across cows wandering 🐮😅
