1. Flights
Flying from Istanbul to Cappadocia is the fastest and easiest option, given the distance of about 730 km (454 miles). Taking a flight lets you cut down on travel time and gives you more time to enjoy Cappadocia.
This is a popular route, so you’ll find plenty of daily flights with Turkish Airlines, Ajet, and Pegasus Airlines—the last two being budget-friendly Turkish carriers.
Even though it’s a short domestic flight, Turkish Airlines still provides drinks and snacks, which is always a nice touch. 😋
Be sure to get to the airport at least 1.5 hours before your flight, especially if you’re departing from Istanbul Airport (IST), which is massive.
When you land in Cappadocia, you can easily grab a taxi, book a private transfers like this one with top-notch service, or opt for a shared transfer, which is the most affordable option I’ve come across.

The main roads, like the D750 and D200, are in good shape and well signposted.
Just a heads-up: in Turkey, routine police checks are pretty common near tourist areas, and they’ll ask for everyone’s passports. I’ve had the experience of going through one checkpoint, only to hit another one just 30 minutes later. 😅😂
